How Did We Calculate the Water Savings?
To estimate the total volume of water conserved, we used a series of conservative assumptions based on typical municipal water distribution systems:
- 200 metres between inline valves for pipelines 300 mm and smaller
- 400 metres between inline valves for pipelines ranging from 350 mm to 550 mm
- 1,500 metres between inline valves for pipelines 600 mm and larger
- An average reservoir capacity of 1,000,000 litres
These assumptions provide a realistic estimate of the water that would have been lost if traditional shutdown and drainage methods had been used instead of live pipeline intervention services.
